New British High Commissioner to Kenya Visits the Programme
The newly appointed British High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr Christian Turner, visited the Kilifi Campus on 21 June 2012 to familiarize himself with the Programme’s research work. During the guided tour, Dr Turner visited various part of the programme including the Clinical Trials Laboratories, the Children’s Ward and High Dependency Unit (HDU) as well as the Main Research Laboratories, the Training Building and the ICT offices.
Dr Turner applauded the programme for effectively adopting ICT in research and enabling the Kilifi District Hospital to provide better services through information. The High Commissioner was particularly impressed by the Programme’s ability to have world-class laboratory facilities and still maintain links with the local district hospital. He further commended the programme for its work in research and collaboration with the Ministries of Health to improve the health of Kenyans.
At the end of the visit, Dr Turner pledged that his office would work closely with the Programme.
