World Pneumonia Day Marked in Kilifi

Residents of Kilifi County used song and dance to emphasize the importance of vaccines, good nutrition and clean environment in the fight against pneumonia. Children under the age of 5 also received vaccines and treatment.

The chief guest Dr Sabah Omar, Centre Director KEMRI Wellcome Trust highlighted the significant role research has played in the fight against pneumonia by development of vaccines.  She encouraged people of Kilifi to ensure their children receive all vaccine as per the government immunization schedule to protect their children from preventable diseases.  director at WPD

The day was organized by the Kilifi District Health Management Team in collaboration with KEMRI Wellcome Trust-PCVIS Project and District Health Stakeholders Forum. World Pneumonia Day is marked on the 12 November every year since 2009 to bring attention to the leading killer of children globally.
