Research

Carol completed her BSc in Nursing at the University of Nairobi in 2004. Between 2004 and 2005 she had various internship posts including nursing positions, working at a VCT clinic, tutoring at a community development institute and a research internship at the Population Council working on pretesting data collection tools on TB management. During this period she decided she wanted to pursue a research career in public health. She joined the MPEG in 2006 as an intern and then transitioned to a research assistant post working on the epidemiology of anti-malarial drug access to Artemether-Lumefathrine several months after it had been introduced as a national therapeutic policy. Between 2007 and 2008 she completed the Masters in Global Health at the University of Oxford, UK. She is now registered for a PhD at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine while working on optimizing the use of schools and school children as sentinels for the surveillance of malaria risks and intervention coverage in Kenya.
