Research

Lairumbi holds a BA in Anthropology and a Postgraduate Diploma in mass communication from University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a Master of Research (MRes ) in Health Geography focusing on Health Care Provision and Utilisation from St. Andrews University, UK. He joined KEMRI/Wellcome Trust Research Programme in 2005 as a Social Scientist.

He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies through collaboration with Oxford University's Department of Public Health. His thesis examines the value that people attach to health related research by exploring opinions of key stakeholder groups involved in knowledge generation in Kenya. This work aims to inform development of models of engagement between researchers, policy makers/decision makers and other groups, to maximize capture of research findings into policy and practice.

Lairumbi's research interests seek to explore the intersection between research, policy and practice using a combination of social science approaches and empirical ethics.
