Research

Philip is an assistant research officer in the CNHG. Prior to joining the programme he studied for a nursing degree at University of Nairobi. He has a Masters degree in epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Since joining the programme in January 2005 he has been involved with the Kenyan District hospitals project, evaluating the impact of an intervention to implement best-practice guidelines for common severe diseases of children. He briefly worked in the area of evidence synthesis and within a project which focused on economic evaluation of introducing the Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine into routine immunization.

He has broad interests in decision analysis in health care, with particular emphasis upon health interventions aimed at childhood illness (pneumonia case management, vaccines)
