Analysis of malaria control programmes and delivery of anti-malarial medicines

Full Title:
Comparative analysis of malaria control programmes targeting delivery of over-the-counter anti-malarial medicines in Kenya
Principal Investigator(s):
Timothy Abuya

Several interventions have been implemented in Kenya to reduce morbidity and mortality due to malaria. One such intervention is working with the private medicine retailers to improve the delivery of anti-malarial medicines. Kenya has experienced a number of these initiatives but there is insufficient systematic documentation on programme performance. The present study employs quantitative and qualitative methods to compare programme performance. This is through an assessment of practices at retailer level, estimating coverage, utilization, and implementation process using policy analysis. Quantitative methods include surrogate and retail audit surveys to assess behavior change.
